Review an abstract

Getting access

The organizer has to:

  1. register you as an attendee of the event,
  2. give you the Abstract Reviewer role, and
  3. assign you to one or more topics.

You'll get a Reviewer Assignment email. Sign in to the event's attendee portal and open Abstracts.

You review every submitted abstract in your topics. Drafts never appear. As a reviewer, you can't submit abstracts to the same event.

Your assigned abstracts

Assigned Abstracts shows how many abstracts you have in total, how many are Pending and Reviewed, and how far through you are. Use the All, Pending and Reviewed tabs and the Topic and Type filters to find abstracts.

If the organizer set a review deadline, a card at the top shows it with a countdown.

The reviewer's Assigned Abstracts page, with the Pending tab and the deadline card highlighted.

Submitting a review

  1. Click an abstract to open Review Abstract.
  2. Read the abstract and the author's answers. If you need to reach the author, the Contact Presenting Author card shows their email address.
  3. Under Your Review, drag the Score slider to a whole number from 1 to 10 and add Comments. Comments are optional, up to 5000 characters.
  4. Click Submit Review and confirm.
The Review Abstract page, with the Score slider, the Comments box and the Submit Review button highlighted.
A review is final

Once you submit, you can't change your score or comments. Read the abstract fully first.

What the author sees

  • Authors see your score and comment only if their abstract is accepted, and only after the organizer publishes results.
  • With blind review on, you appear as "Reviewer 1", "Reviewer 2", and so on. Otherwise your name is shown.
  • Write comments assuming an accepted author will read them.

Blind review

  • On (default): you can't see other reviewers' reviews of the same abstract.
  • Off: an Other Reviews section shows the other reviewers' names, scores and comments.

Either way, you can see who wrote the abstract.

Why your review matters for the timeline

The organizer can only decide on an abstract once every assigned reviewer has reviewed it, so one missing review holds up the decision.
